I’m not a big fan of woman’s MMA.  That said, I have to admit, this weekends championship fight between Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate was a great fight.  Not only was it a great win for the olympic bronze medalist, but it was also a great showing for Tate.

I honestly don’t think that Tate is getting enough love for her BJJ skills that she showcased on Saturday night.  She not only escaped an arm bar that looked very tight, but she got Rousey’s back at one point and was looking for submissions.

Rampage and Dan Henderson verbally sparring on twitter

Dan Henderson had a few choice words for Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s performance and missed weight in his match up against Ryan Bader.  Well you didn’t think Rampage was going to just sit there and take it did you?

Monday Morning Black Belt

What an event UFC 144 was, top to bottom.  I really wanted to give my predictions, but the website had some issues Friday afternoon.  I would have been right about Rampage losing, and hopefully I’ll be right about him retiring.  I also picked Mark Hunt and Tim Boetsch winning.  I had a few losses as well, but overall that predication thread would have been nice.

Frankie Edgar got edged by Ben Henderson, in what I thought was a controversial decision… Considering how MMA is scored.  Pride scoring, Henderson won easily, but under unified rules, judging the fight round by round, I actually feel like there could be an argument made for Edgar.

Saitama, Japan will play host to UFC 144 tomorrow evening (Saturday, February 25th) and the Zuffa brass have brought in the big names to ensure this is one event the Japanese fans will not soon forget. The Main Event of the evening will pit Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar against number one contender Ben ‘Smooth’ Henderson. It’s a highly anticipated fight for us fans, no doubt.

But, before the two lightweight cardio machines throw down to see who takes home the gold in the Land of the Rising Sun, we have a co-main event that will see Quinton ’Rampage’ Jackson make his long anticipated return to Japan, as he takes on Ultimate Fighter 7 winner Ryan Bader.
